Liberal friends -
On election night, many of you heard I was asked to begin the process to find our party an Interim Leader.
The role of an interim leader is an important one. Someone to steer our caucus, and our party, as we begin the process of renewal. Someone with experience and dedication to guide us through a new chapter. I believe someone who will eventually navigate us through an eventual leadership convention.
With this in mind, I'm honoured to inform you that our party's board of electors (comprised of Ontario Liberal Caucus, Presidents of those Ontario Liberal constituency associations that are not represented by caucus, and members of the Executive Council) came together and voted for MPP John Fraser to fill this important leadership role.
I couldn't be happier.
John has been a member of the Ontario Liberal Party for over 40 years. He's volunteered as a riding president, worked in a constituency office in opposition and served as EA to former Premier Dalton McGuinty.
John has been the MPP for Ottawa South for five years, first running as a candidate in the 2013 by-election.
Throughout his political career, John has worked tirelessly to bring community-based solutions to important issues. He has built strong relationships across government, organizations and businesses to ensure Ontario families have access to the services they need most.
Prior to public service, John spent 18 years managing small and medium-sized businesses.
John is extremely committed to our Liberal family. And I believe he has the right mix of experience, dedication, and hunger for hard work, that our party needs as we begin the process of reconnecting with our grassroots.
Please join me in welcoming John as our new Interim Leader.
I cannot wait for all of us to get to work. Together. As a family.
As always, feel free to reach out to me, or the Ontario Liberal Party office, with any questions.
Thank you for everything you do for our party.
President, Ontario Liberal Party
